Dr John Holmes
More about John
John is a member of the Sheffield Alcohol Research Group in the School of Health and Related Research. His interests are around the appraisal of alcohol policies and particularly the potential effects of policies on different groups within the populations. He is also interested in typological and longitudinal modelling of drinking behaviours and alcohol-related harms. Broader interests include the equity of public health policies and the interplay of different sectors in the policy-making process.
Recent projects include working on the Sheffield Alcohol Policy Model to estimate the potential impacts of minimum unit pricing, developing a typological model of the drinking occasions engaged in by different demographic groups in the UK, age-period-cohort modelling of long-term alcohol consumption trends and analysis of a longitudinal survey of detailed alcohol consumption behaviours.
