Michelle is an oral historian and qualitative researcher in supportive and palliative care. She joined the Academic Unit of Supportive Care in 2001 and gained a PhD in history from the University of Sheffield in the same year. She currently leads two Macmillan Cancer Support projects that are piloting and evaluating oral history with people using palliative care and cancer services.
Michelle’s interests are oral history, supportive and palliative care, ethics, and history of medicine; she has published widely and holds leading positions with the UK Oral History Society.
